Into pockets

While preparing my winter coat for airing outside in the sun,  I came across a note
in a pocket that I'd long since forgotten was there.

A curious thing this finding of things in pockets.
A corduroy field jacket might hold acorns and hickory nuts in it's pockets,

some small bits of plants and flowers to identify later.

A long black coat might have in its pockets a kleenex or two, perhaps a program of some event, mint wrappers and a few quarters.

Each pocket a bit of history, a moment in time.

Where we were,

what we were doing

 all told in the pockets

where we put

 pieces of ourselves.
