The continued drawings inspired by The Spiritual Canticle of St John of the Cross
                                Verse 18.
You girls of Judea,
while among flowers and roses
the amber spreads its perfume,
stay away, there on the outskirts:
do not so much as seek to touch our thresholds.

Here, in my interpretation of this verse I see the soul
being conflicted at times between the world of the spiritual,
shown here as the natural world,
and the material world, shiny towns that
sparkle with untruths disguised as nirvana.

In this drawing, the river separates the two conflicting sides.
The river representing the constant flowing of thoughts and ideas.

  1. i like this drawing!! The face is so very interesting, especially the eyes. It is such an amazing thing, that you could show with a simple pencil an inner conflict of the soul! I also like the text, particularly these two points:
    1. "untruths disguised as nirvana."
2.. "The river representing the constant flowing of thoughts and ideas." These are really individual authentic thoughts and experiences!

  2. Thank you Dori, I'm always amazed at the creative process. It is so deeply mysterious.

  3. it is a beautiful work, Ramona, I love the shape of the flower so close to the face. For me, I cannot imagine a river representing thoughts and ideas, or separating conflicting sides. Water is Oneness, the One big drop, without a thought flowing into the Ocean. But I understand your vision, and I love the face ... on the edge of diving deeper than all conflicts :-)

Well-said; it does come across that way - a lot of distracting dazzle.

I love how the expression on the woman's face shows confusion and some exhaustion too. As if the shininess of the town has hurt her eyes and she needs to turn away.

  5. HKatz, You see this too! Yes the woman(soul) is also saddened that so many cannot turn away from this shiny packaging.
